Michelle Retimana

Michelle Retimana is largely self-taught Bronze and Clay Sculptress, living on the beautiful Kapiti Coast. Interested in casting bronze since her teenage years, Michelle uses the lost wax process to create bronze sculptures; “while grinding, patina and mounting are tedious, the excitement of sculpting wax, pouring molten bronze and smashing ceramic shell reward me with individually unique hand formed sculptures”. She attended pottery classes in the 70’s and began exhibiting in 2000. Michelle’s work is regularly selected for National, Regional, Private and Charity Exhibitions and has exhibited through galleries in NZ and UK. Michelle is an Elected artist with the NZ Academy of Fine Arts.
