Gaen
Waikato-based artist Gaen creates geometric abstractions and landscapes that distil nature’s splendour into minimalist form. Working in acrylic on board and canvas, he begins with landscape photography, selecting regional colour palettes and reducing each scene to its essential structure, echoing Cubist principles. Inspired by New Zealand’s dramatic terrains—especially dawn and dusk light—he has travelled widely, also drawing on iconic landscapes abroad. His works appear in private collections across New Zealand and internationally.
