Amber Crossman is a contemporary artist based in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty, creating bold, expressive work that sits between abstraction and expressionism. Following a significant personal loss, she returned to her practice with renewed urgency, reshaping her connection to time and creativity. Largely self-taught, her practice is instinctive and emotionally driven, merging the human form with expressive colour, energetic mark-making, and layered texture. She focuses on capturing presence—movement and emotion—over perfect representation. The female form is central to her work, celebrating lived experience and the stories it holds. Her palette is strongly influenced by nature, the vivid light, and dramatic sunsets.
