Sara Moana

Sara Moana (she/her) is currently based in Auckland | Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa | New Zealand. She is of Welsh and Māori descent (Ngāti Tamaoho, Tainui) and works in illustration, creating art full-time since graduating with her Master’s degree in May 2022. She holds a Master of Fine Arts with First Class Honours from Elam School of Fine Arts | The University of Auckland (2022) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) with First Class Honours (2020). Sara’s practice explores identity, mental health, queerness, body image, existentialism, and feminism, using a subversive yet witty approach to create light-hearted, approachable work that fosters safe spaces and open, everyday conversations.
